Oracle AI Agent Studio: The Future of Enterprise Maintenance

Oracle AI Agent Studio - A game changer for enterprise maintenance

Oracle has unveiled Oracle AI Agent Studio for Fusion Applications. This comprehensive platform empowers organizations to build, extend, deploy, and manage intelligent AI agents and agent teams across the enterprise. Part of Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications Suite, the new AI Agent Studio provides easy-to-use tools for customers and partners to create customized AI agents that streamline complex tasks, elevate productivity, and accelerate innovation.

“AI agents are the next phase of evolution in enterprise applications, and just like with existing applications, business leaders need the flexibility to create specific functionality to address their unique and evolving business needs,” said Steve Miranda, Executive Vice President of Applications, Oracle.

What Is AI Agent Studio?

Oracle AI Agent Studio serves as a comprehensive development environment for building AI agents from scratch or customizing predefined templates. These agents can automate tasks, recommend actions, and support users across a variety of enterprise functions.

  • Typical user of AI agent studio: Everyone in the organization. Whether you're a manager automating processes, an employee exploring career development paths, or a technician troubleshooting an issue, AI Agent Studio provides personalized, conversational assistance.
  • Cost: Included at no additional cost with Oracle Fusion Applications.
  • Flexibility with LLMs: Enables users to access a variety of large language models (LLMs) tailored to address specific business needs. Users can select from LLMs specifically optimized for Oracle Fusion Applications, such as Llama and Cohere, or plug in other external industry-specific LLMs(Open AI, Anthropic, etc.) for specialized use cases.
  • Native Fusion integration: Enables users to quickly build enterprise-ready agents by providing direct access to Oracle Fusion Applications APIs, business objects, knowledge stores, and predefined tools with established security parameters set and without complex customizations. This deep integration automatically preserves enterprise-specific business logic within AI-powered workflows. All of that is done to enable users to add an API to workflows.
  • Third-party system integration: Enables users to connect Oracle Fusion Applications AI agents to third-party agents through secure APIs that support both immediate next steps and long-running processes.
  • Trust and security framework: Enables users to build and deploy agents that operate within a secure framework by requiring those agents within the AI Agent Studio to consistently apply the latest Oracle Fusion Applications security configurations, policies, and access controls. Additionally, this allows users to build AI agents without the need to reconfigure security settings or sign new agreements.
  • Validation and testing tools: Allow users to maintain trust and accuracy by verifying and monitoring results within AI-driven workflows. For example, built-in validation and testing tools help support the reliability, repeatability, explainability, security, and performance of AI outputs.

Supply Chain Execution Use Cases in SCM

After completing the basic setup process, the environment will be ready to use agents for receiving context-specific assistance in guided journeys. We will look at the sample assistance provided as part of the two journeys that are available in the SCM modules for Fusion Applications.

Operator Workbench in Manufacturing

In this scenario, a technician with an assigned Work Order can get task-related help in a conversation with the SCM AI agent. For example, if a work order involves installing an attachment to a treadmill, the technician can get model-specific help from the manuals, which would have been preloaded as document sources in the AI agent's configuration.

Technician Workbench in Maintenance Management

In this scenario, a technician is assigned a Maintenance Work Order to repair a device. The technician can get task-related help in a conversation with the SCM AI agent. For example, if the work order involves repairing a hydraulic pump, the technician can get device-specific help from the manuals, which have been pre-loaded as document sources in the AI agent's configuration.

Redwood-Powered Repair Suggestions in the Maintenance Technician Workbench

With this update, you can use AI Assist to generate a repair suggestion in the maintenance technician workbench, using the work order description as a problem statement. AI Assist searches for information from past work orders on similar assets associated with the same item and suggests repair strategies to get you started.

You can review the sources of the repair suggestion, as the referenced work order numbers are included in the suggestion. The repair suggestion typically consists of a summary of the work performed, costs, and tailored answers from service manuals or best practice documents. It includes details on failures, causes, specific resolution options, required parts, and recommended operations. If you like a suggestion, you can review it and save it as a note. If not, you can constantly update the problem statement to generate a new repair suggestion. You can also edit the current suggestion and save it as a note.

The screenshot below displays the Preview Work Order page featuring the Generate Repair Suggestion button and a saved repair suggestion note.

Wrapping Up:

Oracle AI Agent Studio provides a convenient way to offer conversational assistance for complex tasks in a natural language format to users. The conversation responses from the agent are, to a large extent, dependent on the quality of the reference documents uploaded during the configuration process. If relevant documents are uploaded to the reference repository, the agent should be able to provide meaningful contextual guidance for complex tasks.
